Life Coaching will help you envision the life you want and then help you activate the needed steps to move in the right direction for you. Claire Sutton will coach you by first identifying what is working and what is not working in your life right now. She will conduct a comprehensive assessment that will help you identify and acknowledge where you are right now on your life map/journey. Once the ‘you are here’ is acknowledged then together you and Claire will map out where you would like to be. You will pursue the achievement of your personal and work-related goals in a full, balanced and meaningful way.
Many people need coaching today for life management or transition planning. Statistics show that more and more people are breaking down emotionally due to increased daily demands.
Did you know that an individual today takes in more information in one day than his/her ancestors of the early 1900’s took in during their entire lifetimes? Therefore, as lives evolve and change, it makes extremely good sense to seek help from a professional coach with a mental health background.
An effective coach helps you stay focused and on-task toward your desired goals, similar to an athletic coach or personal trainer. Your whole-life perspective is always in the spotlight so that your potential is pursued in a balanced manner. There is no success at going all out to reach, for instance, a career goal in a fast-tracked time frame if such an unrealistic time-pursuit is going to damage your health, your relationship, your family or your friendships. Claire will help you achieve your goals in a strong, well-paced and effective way so that you can peak perform (at those key times) when required to do so.
Coaching comes naturally to Claire, she understands the uniqueness of each individual and how to motivate. She has been in the athletic arena. In her past, she was an accomplished tennis and squash player as well as a tennis coach, when in her early 20’s. As a mother she coached the boys’ track and field events in her sons’ elementary school – she encouraged all the boys to participate and watched them achieve personal bests, make new friends and increase their self-esteem as they took their placement ribbons and ear-to-ear smiles home.
In her counselling career, she has supervised clinical counsellors and continues to mentor counsellors in her private practice.
In the last 12 years, she has expanded her practice to life coaching as many of her clients need help with managing their life and career goals.
Unlike other life/career coach professionals, Claire Sutton has a background in business and a graduate degree in counselling psychology and has honed her skills in solution-focused methods. She can expertly handle any emotional disturbances that come to the surface during the coaching sessions. Though coaching is not therapy, feelings of fear, anger and depression can emerge and having a skilled clinical professional in your presence is of immeasurable benefit. It is not about “doing therapy” or “delving into one’s past” it is about being able to ask the right questions at the right time in order to free up the tension or unblock the resistance. Once this unblocking occurs, no matter what the issue, then psychological or mental space is created and the client can move forward with a new found confidence toward accomplishing the next steps in his/her charted course.
- Commitment is Key for coaching to work. 10 session coaching contracts are recommended: in-person, telephone and skype calls are possible options.
