Dr. Phil’s signature question is a fabulous one. It is focused and direct which allows you to examine the issue at hand. Dr. Phil’s question allows you to reflect and then correct issues in your life.
Having this powerful question – How’s that working for you? – in our repertoire gives each and everyone one of us the ability to reflect, respond and acknowledge whether something (a certain behaviour; a job; a relationship; a course of action) is working. If that something is working then great and if it isn’t then it is time to activate a change or seek some help to figure out what type of change is needed. Not changing our ways or not seeking the right help when something in our life is not working is detrimental to our sense of well being and can lead to on-going anger, anxiety, depression and /or low self-esteem.
The clock is ticking toward Spring 2016 – Yikes! Let’s take some time to review your commitment to the goal(s) that you set for yourself early in the new year. How’s life working for you?
Now is a good time to reboot and re-focus your commitment toward reaching a desired goal.
Take a moment now to decide what one change you would like to see in you manifested by June 1. Is it achievable by then or partly achievable? Activating a change is a process so be clear as to what can actually result in a few months time.
Define clearly ( if you can) the change that you would like to see. What would be different about you if that goal or change occurred? Close your eyes for a moment and take a few deep breaths and see the goal achieved in your mind’s eye. Feel the desired change. Now identify the first few steps that need to be activated and scheduled for you to embark on the process of achieving your goal. Remember that the first step may be to seek out the right professional help.
Trust yourself and go for it.
