How is your day going so far? It seems that every barrista, waiter and sales clerk is asking you that today – no matter how great, tired or hurried you are. My guess is that they all took the same customer service course. Most people respond to the question with a ‘fine, thank-you’. However, the truth is that many people are not doing that great.
Many of the clients that I see find their way to my office because they feel stuck in life (in their job, relationship, environment, habits etc.) Many of these clients have fallen either into a situational depression or have adopted a real sense of apathy. In other words, change the situation and there is a real good chance that a more positive outlook will result, outwardly and inwardly.
The old definition of ‘insanity’ still is true today i.e. “ insanity is a result of doing the same thing in the exact same way over and over again and then getting ‘pissed off’ because the results turn out to be the same over and over again.”
There is always a solution to even the most devastating problem. Step 1 is to acknowledge that there is a problem. Step 2 is to accept that change is necessary for you to resolve the issue. Step 3 is to identify and take the necessary steps for real change to occur.
Life is not easy. Yet, taking steps towards positive change will be a journey that is exhilarating even though it will no doubt have some struggle. Given both the struggle and the exhilaration in moving forward you will emerge with more confidence and resilience as you commit to living your life to its fullest.
